A Note from Juliet Goodfriend, President
I am thrilled to announce that construction is complete on Bryn Mawr Film Institute's Central Avenue theater addition! We are now showing films on four screens, in our two brand new auditoriums as well as our two beautifully renovated historic theaters. We look forward to bringing you even more films and programs to enjoy, and in a much more comfortable viewing environment.
Construction on the new addition has lasted eight months, but it is only a piece—the final piece—of the renovation and expansion of our historic home, a project more than a decade in the making. There would not be a movie theater in Bryn Mawr today at all—let alone this newly expanded, state-of-the-art facility—without the generous support of our donors, members, and sponsors, and the tireless work of our staff and volunteers, past and present.
On behalf of Bryn Mawr Film Institute, thank you. We hope you will celebrate with us at our ACTION! Dedication Celebration on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
New Theaters, Better Experience
Our historic Theater 1 (the left side) and Theater 2 (the right side) have been completely renovated with new seats, lighting, carpeting, screens, and wall coverings! We have also redone the lobby restrooms, and added sound and light buffers to both theaters.
The stars of the addition are the two new state-of-the-art theaters, replete with large-format screens and stadium seating. The new addition also features an industrial-chic lobby with exposed brick walls and sparkling chandeliers, and additional restrooms.
The site plan (below) shows the theater addition on the west side of the existing theater building. All patrons will still enter at the Lancaster Avenue entrance under the Hamilton Marquee and via the historic Rutkowski Box Office.
If you would like a closer look at the work that went into building the new theaters, you can view weekly updates from BMFI's construction project.
Thank you for your patience and support during this time of transition. We hope you'll join us to celebrate the completion of this eight-month renovation and expansion project at our ACTION! Dedication Celebration on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Details are available here.
