Bryn Mawr Film Institute Seville Society · Preserving our past and assuring our future
The Seville Society is a special group of donors who have made an investment in our community by including Bryn Mawr Film Institute in their estate plans. Members are invited to Seville Society gatherings and other special events and, with their permission, are listed in the BMFI annual report. There are no dues or fees associated with membership in the BMFI Seville Society. Most important, members of the Seville Society are helping to assure that Bryn Mawr Film Institute will be a vital part of the Main Line community for generations to come.
Seville Society Membership takes many forms
There are a number of ways to participate in BMFI's planned giving program while fulfilling your personal financial and charitable goals. You can make a gift that BMFI can use immediately, a gift that is reserved for use in the future, or a gift that will provide income back to you. Your gift may also take advantage of a naming opportunity or support an endowment, enhancing the permanence of your gift. We will be happy to work with you and your financial advisor to determine the one that is right for you. Below are brief descriptions of the most popular planned giving options.
Adding a simple bequest to your will is an easy way to contribute to the future success of BMFI. The bequest can be for a specific amount of money or a percentage of your estate. It can be made outright, or once family, friends, and other loved ones are cared for. In any case, BMFI will be the grateful steward of part of your life's legacy. Ask you financial advisor about the federal estate tax and state and inheritance tax benefits of a charitable bequest.
Sample bequest language:
"I bequeath _____% of my residuary estate (or $ _____) to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute (BMFI), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable cultural organization, located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, for its ongoing film, education, and outreach programs. Federal Tax I.D. number: 04-3682610."
You can designate BMFI as the beneficiary of your IRA or other retirement assets such as 401(k) and 403(b) plans and BMFI will receive the funds upon your passing, or you can make outright gifts during your lifetime from these same assets that BMFI can use immediately. You can leave the entire balance to BMFI, or designate a specific portion. Your financial advisor can explain the estate and income tax benefits of this option.
Donate a paid up life insurance policy that you no longer need for your family and receive a current income tax deduction. If you designate BMFI as owner and irrevocable beneficiary of a fully paid life insurance policy, you may take a charitable income tax deduction for the policy's terminal reserve value (approximately equal to its replacement value). Or, you might think about taking out a new policy benefiting BMFI and receive tax benefits with each premium paid.
An unrestricted bequest provides the BMFI with the flexibility to use your gift to meet the most urgent programmatic and financial needs. However, we would be happy to apply your bequest to a specific program, the capital fund, or to the BMFI endowment established to meet long-term capital and educational needs. Donors who choose to make BMFI a part of their estate plans can realize financial and/or tax saving benefits. Please speak with your financial advisor or attorney about what makes sense for you.
If you have included the BMFI in your will or estate plans, we hope you will let us know so that we can express our gratitude and enroll you as a member of the BMFI Seville Society. If you prefer that your plans remain private, we thank you for your thoughtful commitment and generosity.
We welcome the opportunity to provide you with individual assistance and information, in confidence and without obligation. To discuss how you would like to support BMFI as well as achieve your own financial goals, please contact Charles Grafman, Director of Development, 610.527.4008 x103.
